The hoodie guides won't stay quiet about. The Hoodie that has won the most awards across its category!
You need one piece that works in spring snow, summer sun, fall shoulder season, and as a winter base layer. Something that breathes when you're moving hard but keeps you warm when you stop. Protects you from UV but doesn't overheat. Wicks sweat but doesn't smell like death after three days. The River Run Hoodie is that piece.
Built with DUAL SURFACE™ UL Precision Blended Wool at just 120gsm - one of the lightest full-cover merino hoodies you can buy. The inner surface actively wicks moisture away from your skin. The outer surface regulates temperature and shields you from UV (UPF 30+). This gives you a base layer that performs solo in mild conditions and under your shell when weather commits.
Why this becomes your go-to:
Ultra-lightweight full-coverage (120gsm fabric, 186g for size L) - disappears under your kit
Natural odor resistance - wear it for days without the synthetic stink
Built-in UPF 30+ sun protection - covers your neck and arms
Button-up hood and thumbholes - adapt coverage as temps and conditions shift
Dries fast, breathes constantly, works in every season
Relaxed fit - wear it solo or as your base layer under everything else

I wore the Voormi River Run Hoodie for a 40-mile run on the Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu. We did the run over two days, climbing over 17k feet of elevation along the way. We started our run around 10k feet. We eventually made our way to the top of Salkantay Pass (15,190feet) where we encountered high winds, heavy snow, and glacial peaks. From there we descended to the humid and buggy Peruvian jungle. It was hot and muggy and often rained in the afternoon. We passed ancient Incan ruins and traveled through many small villages. The trail took us through multiple climate zones, weather patterns and unexpected places...and I never took the hoodie off once!
At the lower elevations, the heat and humidity were intense, but the merino wool kept me cool and dry. It wicked away sweat fast, so I never felt soaked, and it protected me from the sun all day. As we climbed higher and the temps dropped, the hoodie still kept me comfortable without being too heavy. It was just the right amount of warmth for those cooler stretches at high altitude.
It handled everything perfectly—whether it was sweltering down low or freezing up high. The merino wool kept me comfortable the whole time, and the fit was great for a long, tough run. And the best part was that it never stunk! I certainly did....but the hoodie felt as fresh at the end of the trip as it did at the beginning. I definitely recommend the Voormi River Run Hoodie. I think it's the perfect piece of clothing for any adventure.

I wore it for a 4 day summer backpacking trip through the white mountains in New Hampshire, it worked well in all sorts of weather from sunny high exposure alpine afternoons to cool cloudy mornings. Overall one of my favorite sun hoodies/base layers I own. I’m 6’3” and the XL was big enough that I didn’t stretch out the arms when I used the thumb holes.

Couldn't have caught this San Juan rainbow without my River Run Hoodie!!!

Love this light weight pull over. Wore it hiking a few times and out to the breweries.

I own the e high hoodie (7 years old) and it’s my favourite hoodie for fly fishing, the quality is second to none.
So I thought I would compliment it with the river run hoodie as a lightweight alternative for hotter days and to keep bugs off, I’ve only worn it once and the quality is a massive let down the hoodie has thread pulls all over it from walking through light brush that the e hoddie goes through without issue. I love the idea of a lightweight hoodie but this is a dissatisfying purchase and I expected way better quality from voormi.

Great product and keeps the sun at bay! Blood comes right out of it too!

Second River Run, might have to get a third. The best shade shirt I've ever owned. The materials perform unbelievably. Took my other one up Denali and down the Grand Canyon, and just got the new one. Wasn't sure about the buttons but love the look and function. Best shade shirt on the market

I wore a (singular) Voormi River Run Hoodie for all 2650 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail in 2022, from Mexico to Canada. This was one of my favorite pieces of gear. Believe it or not, it never smelled bad - or if it did, it washed out in the next laundry. It was the perfect weight for both the desert and the High Sierra, through heat waves, and layering under my puffy in snow and rain. Super comfy and durable. It did wind up wearing out under my pack's shoulder straps by the time I got to the Canadian border, but I was able to patch it up to get me through the whole way. 5 months on trail.
I'm hiking the CDT this year and bought a new one for this new adventure. I've tried the competitors, but this one is worth every penny.

I really do NOT recommend this hoodie for most outdoor activities. I bought it so I'd have a shirt I could wear while I was active outdoors and in the sun. I go fishing, sailing, backpacking, and running.
My very first time wearing this shirt, the velcro on the jacket I was wearing caused multiple runs in the fabric and my left thumb strap separated from the shirt. When I say multiple runs, I literally mean dozens of pulls in the fabric that will turn into tears if I don't laboriously use the 'Snag Nab It' tool Voormi support recommended I buy to fix them before the next use.
I don't know if all Riverrun Hoodies are this fragile, but given my experience I absolutely don't recommend buying one if you think you're going to allow it to touch anything other than your body.
It IS lightweight, it DOES fit well, and it seems apparent that care was put into this product. The upsides just don't outweigh the downsides for my (and I think many peoples') use case.

From hiking in forests, along the coasts, alpine lake hikes in the sierras and in the Mojave desert this shirt has been through it all and has held up excellently. My favorite go to piece of gear. I have two and will pick up another when they have a few more colors again.

I've worn this top for tons of hiking and backpacking in cool weather, but it's biggest test was last summer in Iceland. I used the river run in conjunction with the merino tee for several days backpacking the Icelandic highlands on the Laugavegur and Fimmvörðuháls trails. I stayed warm through the chilly morning starts and cool through the warm afternoons. We had great weather mostly, but some misty mornings didn't stop the fabric from being comfortable. The River Run and the merino tee are my go to for just about any activity in the outdoors. The hood is so great at keeping sun off my neck and head. I need the SPF but not a huge fan of reapplying sunscreen so this is a great option. And it's so comfy once I'm in camp and just hanging out. If it wears out, I'll definitely buy it again. And it's so great to have a USA made outdoor product. For me, this offsets the slight premium price.

Great sun shirt. Wicks away sweat, especially if you wear a lightweight wool t-shirt under it. Hood fantastic combined with a front-brim hat. Make the constant 11-13 UV rating days on our Kauai vacation survivable for me.

Best tropical salt water fly fishing sure I’ve ever owned. You guys should really target this market. I tell all my friends about it. I live in Key West and literally wear them daily.

I’m sorta in between medium and large depending on the brand, after trying the river run in medium and large I decided on a large. It keeps the sun off and dries quickly but since it’s wool it feels a little warmer than a synthetic sun shirt when it’s wet it also doesn’t stink like my synthetic shirts do! When the blowdown color is back I will be buying a second one

I got this shirt a few months ago and have worn it for weeks straight climbing, hiking, etc. It never starts to smell! This is exactly what I was hoping for. I tried the Patagonia Tropic Comfort and the polyester shirt just stank after 1 day use. Don't go with Patagonia polyester, go with Voormi merino wool blend! This shirt fits great, protects from the sun, controls temp and is tough.

comfortable. an every day piece of gear in summer to keep sun off and good when things cool a bit at night. Love the hoodie, straight up or over my Voormi cap. Your products do not disappoint.

Great for sun protection. Wear the river run hoody on all my tropical fishing trips, including this one to the Seychelles!

Got the River Run for Fathers Day. Have used it everyday for a week straight without washing. on purpose. Fishing, hanging out at the river, and horseback riding. Absolutely love it. No off smell. Just dunk it in the river when I got hot and it was fine. I need to get other colors.

I used this as a wind/sun shirt over a week in St. Martin. It performed perfectly, and has instantly become a favorite piece of gear.

I was confused as to how you can offer a $130 shirt but I’ve figured it out now. The moment I touched it my mind was blown. It’s so soft and supple, and this material feels like nothing else I’ve ever owned. This shirt makes my other shade shirts feel like grocery bags. I am nervous I will never wear them again.

Hard to explain why this garment is so perfect, but it truly is the top piece i own. I wear it biking and fishing pretty much everytime i go out.

I thru hiked the Colorado Trail with my voormi. it was perfect against the hot sun and cold breezy mountain passes. I own a lot of sun hoodies, but this is the one I keep coming back to.

Fits great, awesome sun protection especially with thumb loops and hood button, wear alone and won’t become smelly for awhile! Must for adventures, especially on the river!

First cam across Voormi on vacation in Crested Butte. Loved the quality and feel of the sweater at the shop but being close to the peak of my weight I did not think I deserved to spend that kind of money on myself. Then COVID-19 hit and I decided to come out of the pandemic better than I went into it. Five months in and I was down 25 lbs and most important from an XL to a L, time to treat myself...
The lightweight is perfect for cool summer evenings in New Hampshire or as pictured great to warm up after a 30 minute swim in the lake. Today I am using it in the office and trying to have the impact on my clients like Steve Jobs in his black turtle neck. Oh well you have to have aspirations!

My entire family has a River Run Hoodie (they make GREAT gifts) and we utilize the garment for fishing, rafting, fly fishing, hiking, almost any outdoor scenario you can imagine. The hood is amazing for sun screening, and insect protection.....the wool is warm, and cool, drys quickly and breaths well. I personally own 2 of these River Run Hoodies and wear them year round. Best quality, VOORMI is the best outdoor gear on the market! Period

This River Run hoodie was a great investment! I was caught in the middle of two colors Chalk and Cloud. I ended up getting Chalk and I love the color. I was looking for something, reflective of the sun, lightweight, breathable, and something to cover me up from the sun. I found what I was looking for! I took this out for a bike ride for two hours and I was sweating, I hung it up when I got home to let it dry. It dried pretty fast and it didn't even stink! I was impressed! I would totally recommend this for hiking and for any outdoor recreation in the hot sun, I live in central Texas and it's hot here all the dang time!

I love having a hooded sun shirt. After I feel like I've maxed on UV for the day, I cover up, rather than use greasy sun screen. If it's really hot, I get it wet then wear it dry to keep me cool.

I've tested this on many waters all over Western Montana and it's fantastic. Helps keep the sun out but also the color scheme helps keep me hidden approaching weary trout. I've also worn it on moderate hikes and it keeps you cool and keeps the bugs off! Must have.

Exceptional customer service! Very happy with this garment. Great at keeping away oder and it incredibly breathable. Can’t wait to get it out on a long distance hike.

Love the River Run almost as much as my High E Hoodie. I wore it out of the box and it has rarely been off...very comfortable and super lightweight. It's actually quite warm just on it's own despite the 7 oz weight. I recently wore it paddling in SC with just a tee underneath in 50° weather and it was perfect. Used in conjunction with the High-E it performs as the perfect base layer. The hood is roomy yet when not used collapses into almost nothing. Breathes really well and dries quickly
An excellent addition to your outdoor collection.

This was my first item from Voormi and I plan on treating to myself to another item from them each year! Bought this for my trip to Asia this past March (2019). It kept me comfortable for our unexpected 27 hour delay at DIA because of the bomb cyclone. It was perfect for the long flight from San Francisco to Hong Kong. Temps in Hong Kong were in the mid 70's and it was perfect for the 20k+ steps we took wandering around there as well! I wear this around the house all the time and out to any casual place. I find it to be comfortable up to the mid 70's for non-physical activities and mid 60's for hiking and other more active pursuits. Overall I love the River Run Hoodie. With a thin cotton shirt under and a medium weight vest over, it's perfect for most days on the Colorado plains! I just noticed a couple very small snags on one sleeve, so hopefully that doesn't get worse. I plan on getting one for my wife as soon as the right color and size becomes available.

The first RiverRun shirt I acquired told me this would be the standard shirt I would deliver with every new Streamtech Boat sold.....and my customers all love it! I live in this shirt all summer on the river.

The RiverRun Hoodie surpassed my expectations. It was super comfortable, fast drying, and did not smell bad after 4 days on the trail. My trail companions all decided they will be ordering one for the next hike.

Love this River run hoodie. WOW!!! What an incredible and versatile piece of clothing The light weight made it perfect for my five day hiking trip. Kept me warm on cool nights and cool in the hot sun. The light weight makes it perfect for packing when not needed.
Worked awesome wile kayaking when the evening gets cool I threw it on and the chill is gone.
The manufacturing quality is outstanding I now own 9 different pieces of Voormi apparel.
The Quality of the river run hoodie is well worth the price.

Best backpacking piece of clothing I have ever owned. It’s crazy versatile, doesn’t stink, and more durable than my other wool pieces. I use it as a sun shirt in the heat, and as 2nd layer in the morning and evening. At night if the temps are above 40, I use this with a wool tshirt as my thermal top (the hood really helps keep heat sleeping with a down quilt). It saves my pack significant weight by replacing 3 items.
In the above picture I hiked to No Name Lake at Broken Top in Oregon. I was hiking on snow in 80+ Temps. It was basically a microwave. When I started sweating, it rapidly evaporated the moisture and I felt a significant cooling effect. I put snow in the hood and had a cold wrap for the back of my neck with my pack on. When its really hot, I dunk it in the river and put it on. It feels like your wearing an air conditioner.
The only suggestion I have is to put a little piece of sunglass cleaning cloth on the inside, side seem. It would be really handy to have that to wipe your shades off since wool and polyester just smear every.
Five Stars. Worth the money. Made in America.
