CoolHunting.com Stays Warm and Dry in the Pacific Northwest with the Voormi Women's Drift Jacket

For the past few years, Pagosa Springs, CO-based company Voormi has garnered recognition for two accomplishments. Their patented Core Construction technology weaves technical fibers directly into merino wool, which means that a warm, comfortable Voormi hoodie is just as weather-protective as a squeaky softshell. Moreover, most of their garments are made in Pagosa Springs, which brings skilled manufacturing jobs to a mountain economy typically characterized by low-paying seasonal work.

We recently had the opportunity to try the women's Drift Jacket. Spring weather in the Pacific Northwest is notoriously fickle, but the jacket kept us warm and dry through cold, intermittent drizzle. Merino wool base layers and sweaters also tend to pill, pull and tear from general rough usage, so Voormi weaves abrasion-resistant nylon fibers throughout the fabric to help the jacket maintain its integrity. It's a tough, protective jacket that's nonetheless comfortable enough to wear around the house.
