Love it!!
Live in Hawaii. It's the perfect weight for cool windy evenings on the beach.

Just spend 3 days in variable conditions in the west texas hills, logging 48 miles over 3 days carrying my bow looking for deer. The first day I wore a Sitka Apex hoodie - which in full disclosure, I really love. But... after a day, it smells. And if I can smell it, so can the deer. I wore the River Run for the next two days, and despite the addition of rain and wind/dust to my sweat, it felt fresh until I took it off. Just an amazing all around product. My only suggestion would be to re-think the hood. Something a little tighter would maybe catch the wind less and blow off, but that's a minor detail. keep up the great work!

Love my river run hoodie! BUT, before you order, know that they upped the size of this. I have an older version that's a small, and this new small fits like a large. It's so baggy that I'm going to get it altered so that it fits better. Customer service was great, it was so much bigger than my old one that I thought it was mislabeled, and they were able to confirm dimensions and such. The River Run is my go-to for all backpacking trips. Wore the last one for so many nights and it protected me from the sun and never stunk, even after 12 straight days of backpacking and only rinsing it off in lakes/rivers.
William O.
So thin and breathable, but also kept me warm in the shade!
Kandy A.
We love the product we have purchased since our trip to Pagossa Springs. Our son is an archiologist and fly fisherman his Dad is an avid Bass fisherman. So everything we have bought over the last 2 years has been great for both of them.
Shamon W.
I got this shirt a few months ago and have worn it for weeks straight climbing, hiking, etc. It never starts to smell! This is exactly what I was hoping for. I tried the Patagonia Tropic Comfort and the polyester shirt just stank after 1 day use. Don't go with Patagonia polyester, go with Voormi merino wool blend! This shirt fits great, protects from the sun, controls temp and is tough.
Rod T.
Great hoodie. Super light weight but yet enough warmth as a base layer. Wore it for several days and it was as fresh as the day I put it on.
Ryan C.
I really love this shirt. I am in between sizes in most brands. I ended up ordering a small and a medium to see which would fit better. I ended up keeping both because I can see using both of them in different situations. I bought this hoodie for warm weather sun protection, since I live on Oahu. This hoodies has done well in rainforests and on dry exposed ridges. I really love the material and how light it is. I hope it lasts me a long time.
Wes w.
The most light weight hoodie I've found. I have most other fishing brands u.v. hoodies as well as hunting hoodies, and the Voormi is my favorite in the woods and on the water.
Benjamin C.
comfortable. an every day piece of gear in summer to keep sun off and good when things cool a bit at night. Love the hoodie, straight up or over my Voormi cap. Your products do not disappoint.
Clay H.
I’ve worn several brands of sun hoodies, and this one is my favorite so far. Very well made. I have it in 3 colors. 5 stars.
Gannon D.
Great for sun protection. Wear the river run hoody on all my tropical fishing trips, including this one to the Seychelles!
Martin R.
Love the hoodie! Have a few of them that are in an almost daily rotation. I use them everywhere from hiking up in the cascades to around the park with the dog to around the house almost every day!
Will C.
Amazing gear that is really differentiated.
Allen D.
Got the River Run for Fathers Day. Have used it everyday for a week straight without washing. on purpose. Fishing, hanging out at the river, and horseback riding. Absolutely love it. No off smell. Just dunk it in the river when I got hot and it was fine. I need to get other colors.
Adam F.
I ordered the Medium Pebble. Medium almost always fits me, but this product runs a little large, probably because it's a relaxed fit. The biceps area is pretty baggy, when I usually fill out the arms. I have a medium Voormi Short Sleeve Merino Tech Tee and it fits perfectly. I'd like this product better if it were athletic fit.
Mike R.
I need a 3xl for broad shoulders. 2xl is too narrow. You dont seem to make anything in 3xl. Very disappointing

Incredible shirt! The thumb loop stitching failed and it began pilling within a couple of weeks though.
Todd
I used this as a wind/sun shirt over a week in St. Martin. It performed perfectly, and has instantly become a favorite piece of gear.
Lasse Jon Marquardt F.
Great!
Matthew C.
Love it. Wasn’t sure about a poly merino blend but it works well. Don’t love white as everything shows on it and I’m messy plus wearing it outside to work and play... make a green camo and grey camo please. Wouldn’t work for hunting using the poly though you’d have to go full merino or a merino bamboo blend.
Spencer H.
I was confused as to how you can offer a $130 shirt but I’ve figured it out now. The moment I touched it my mind was blown. It’s so soft and supple, and this material feels like nothing else I’ve ever owned. This shirt makes my other shade shirts feel like grocery bags. I am nervous I will never wear them again.
Scott w.
Have another piece which prompted me to buy more. So versatile and comfortable.
Eric N.
Awesome!!! I don’t know how else to describe this shirt. Wool is king!!
Colt
I wanted to love this shirt- My friends speak highly of this brand and their quality. The fabric is thin, which is nice. However, after only a few wears the garment has snags and holes in it. I take great care of my clothing in the wash- For the price, this isn't great. I have other, similar shirts that have lasted much longer and cost only a fraction of the price.
Brian C.
I've only worn this hoodie 2 days, while snowboarding, which is the reason I purchased it. I'm tall with long arms and the size medium fits me nearly perfectly. It's very difficult for me to find tops that fit me in the chest (narrow) and arms (extra long) at the same time.
The second time I wore this while snowboarding I only wore one light wool baselayer tee shirt, this hoodie, and my parka. I tend to run hot when active, so this minimal set up was perfect for me as long as I kept moving. It was a relatively warm day on the mountain, 30 degrees at 8am, with temps rising. Overall a great baselayer. Most people will want a mid-layer for sub freezing temps, or if they run cold.
Margaret S M.
I have a couple Voormi ultra lites for Florida fishing. Perfect for Winter night fly fishing and Florida cold day rowing
Scott W.
Hard to explain why this garment is so perfect, but it truly is the top piece i own. I wear it biking and fishing pretty much everytime i go out.
Brent S.
Perfect fit for an athletic frame. Love this jacket. May be a tad heavy for lightweight backpacking compared to down alternatives, but it is perfect for everything else. Got one for my wife also who also loves hers.
Michael W.
After 4 years of section hiking the PCT in my River Run, I just took delivery of new one in black. This is my favorite piece of clothing on trail.
Bill S.
I love the products. Great outdoor wear. Nothing better
D S.
Backpacking in the German Blackforest. Ordered Medium. Fit is true. I'm 5'10", 170 lbs. Own Two RRHs. Superb shirt performance in the Rocky Mtns, kayaking in the U.S. Southeast, in SW Asia, and across Europe. Thanks for great products and and a great company philosophy and focus. Cheers
Nicole M.
This is my first Voormi and love it. Its a perfect weight for the fall and provides great coverage from sunny days on the trail. I even wore it as a layer skydiving and it was great.
Joe
I thru hiked the Colorado Trail with my voormi. it was perfect against the hot sun and cold breezy mountain passes. I own a lot of sun hoodies, but this is the one I keep coming back to.
James M.
This is a top shelf hoodie; functional design, the fit is made for action, and extremely comfortable against the skin.
Joseph C.
Fits great, awesome sun protection especially with thumb loops and hood button, wear alone and won’t become smelly for awhile! Must for adventures, especially on the river!
Steve G.
great product! excellent breathability
Nicholas C.
took the shirt for 5 days in Eagle Cap wilderness. It is now my go to shirt for trekking. Light as a feather, breathable and surprisingly insulative. Kept the sun of my neck and FaceTime a champ! Love this shirt!
David G.
First cam across Voormi on vacation in Crested Butte. Loved the quality and feel of the sweater at the shop but being close to the peak of my weight I did not think I deserved to spend that kind of money on myself. Then COVID-19 hit and I decided to come out of the pandemic better than I went into it. Five months in and I was down 25 lbs and most important from an XL to a L, time to treat myself...
The lightweight is perfect for cool summer evenings in New Hampshire or as pictured great to warm up after a 30 minute swim in the lake. Today I am using it in the office and trying to have the impact on my clients like Steve Jobs in his black turtle neck. Oh well you have to have aspirations!
John H.
Awesome lightweight sun protection and stays warm higher up the mountain
Clayton S.
Amazing shirt. I was wearing it all the time and decided to get a couple more. My only complaint is that it snags super easy on the old fish hook. Other than that it’s top notch. I have worn it in 90 degree heat on the river and it kept me cool all day.
Cory T.
My entire family has a River Run Hoodie (they make GREAT gifts) and we utilize the garment for fishing, rafting, fly fishing, hiking, almost any outdoor scenario you can imagine. The hood is amazing for sun screening, and insect protection.....the wool is warm, and cool, drys quickly and breaths well. I personally own 2 of these River Run Hoodies and wear them year round. Best quality, VOORMI is the best outdoor gear on the market! Period
Shawna G.
Bought this shirt for my son for his birthday and he loves it! Wore it on a hot 80 degree day to Mesa Verde and said he was never to hot in it.
Roy P.
This River Run hoodie was a great investment! I was caught in the middle of two colors Chalk and Cloud. I ended up getting Chalk and I love the color. I was looking for something, reflective of the sun, lightweight, breathable, and something to cover me up from the sun. I found what I was looking for! I took this out for a bike ride for two hours and I was sweating, I hung it up when I got home to let it dry. It dried pretty fast and it didn't even stink! I was impressed! I would totally recommend this for hiking and for any outdoor recreation in the hot sun, I live in central Texas and it's hot here all the dang time!
Kari B.
great quality hoodie, the 4th one I have purchased for my husband. Long lasting, light weight, excellent for many sports including skiing, hiking, golf
Mark R G.
This is a wonderful hoody .. I fly fish, hike, bike, ski and this is going to be an all-season "go to" when I head into my closet. Soft, comfortable, great fit .. super satisfied !!
Wade O.
I love having a hooded sun shirt. After I feel like I've maxed on UV for the day, I cover up, rather than use greasy sun screen. If it's really hot, I get it wet then wear it dry to keep me cool.
GARY B.
Fits well. Very comfortable.
Josh B.
I have two of these and live In them, I find myself wearing it more so than not. Awesome product, from a greater than great co.
Thanks
Ashley G.
I was standing on my porch wearing the blowdown pattern when some strange guy walking by called out, "I like your shirt... looks like camouflage." My thought was, it's a failure then. He noticed everything.
Matt G.
I've tested this on many waters all over Western Montana and it's fantastic. Helps keep the sun out but also the color scheme helps keep me hidden approaching weary trout. I've also worn it on moderate hikes and it keeps you cool and keeps the bugs off! Must have.
Stephen D.
Exceptional customer service! Very happy with this garment. Great at keeping away oder and it incredibly breathable. Can’t wait to get it out on a long distance hike.
Viktor V.
Really great piece. Lightweight and breathable. Love the look and feel but it does run large. Recently bought a hoodie here in the same size that has smaller fit. Both fit, but they fit differently and honestly I would have thought the hoodie would run larger and an item like this might run smaller, I was wrong. Doesn't matter love both of my Voormi purchases and expect a long life out of them.
Lorne C.
I may have my new favorite piece of hiking gear. I have had wool baselayers before and loved them but wanted something with a hood and also suitable for both warm and cold weather. This has been perfect for that. It is comfortable as a baselayer and has a hood. The purpose of the hood for me is to keep sun of my neck. I wear a hat but it doesn't cover my neck. I don't want to wear one of those hats with the long back on them so a light hood is my preference. I used this for a hike in Southern California the week I got it and it worked out perfectly. It was a warm baselayer in the morning to start the day and as the day warmed up it didn't feel hot at all. Later in the day as I was sweating it still felt good and didn't get smelly. All the while I had the hood on keeping the sun off my neck. I got one in the chalk color (not my first choice) and since I was doing an overnight trip it got rather dirty. It washed up well though.
Highly recommended!
Troy A. E.
River Run is the Gold Standard. Warm and cool when you need it. Supremely light and practical. Always comfortable from 25 to 65
Degrees F.
Jerry C.
It is a light weight shirt that is perfect for fishing or being at the beach or taking a run on a cool morning or a walk on a hot day. Sun protection and feel is as expected. Being thin it is not great for backpack wearers because the rubbing of the straps wears holes in the shirt quickly.
Brandon W.
Purchased the Voormi River Run Hoodie. Fabric feel is lightweight and airy.
Pros: Comfortable, looks good, light-weight sun protection. I have used it in Hawaii and it isn't too hot.
Cons: Fabric is fragile. Snags / loose threads.
I would definitely purchase another. Note that priority is given to light weight over durability. Don't expect it to hold up forever.
Zackery A.
I've only worn the river run hoodie a few time so far, but already really enjoy it. Very comfortable, light, breathable, and good sun protection.
Josh W.
Always the best from VOORMI.
Bob F.
Absolutely incredible product! Seems like the perfect multi-day sun protection layer. Looking forward to many more river days, flats trips and hunting adventures in this hoody.
jennifer W.
Incredible quality and fantastic in-store customer service. We took the long route from Austin to Durango as my husband HAD to visit this store. Left with lots of goodies - pricey but super understandable based on quality. The one downside was, being the good bride that I am, I WASHED it! No bueno! Take care of this Vroomi items properly or you may be buying your husband a replacement like I did. Awesome product!!
christian b.
Love the River Run almost as much as my High E Hoodie. I wore it out of the box and it has rarely been off...very comfortable and super lightweight. It's actually quite warm just on it's own despite the 7 oz weight. I recently wore it paddling in SC with just a tee underneath in 50° weather and it was perfect. Used in conjunction with the High-E it performs as the perfect base layer. The hood is roomy yet when not used collapses into almost nothing. Breathes really well and dries quickly
An excellent addition to your outdoor collection.

I love this hoodie. Finding the right clothes to wear running in Minnesota in late winter/early spring is challenging. This hoodie has performed spectacularly, especially in its water wicking capacity, keeping my dry and warm whilst sweating during runs in the cold. It's a great base layer for me when below 50 degrees and useful on its own above that.
Mike H.
Purchased for a fall JMT trip.
Excellent all around EXCEPT way to abrasive between skin and shoulder straps of my 30lb well fitting pack. This keeps it from being a good single layer for backpacking. Great for everything else in life though!
JOANN R.
Was purchased as a gift. He really likes it
Kamyar I.
Great fabric, could be the perfect travel shirt. Large is just a little bit big which is probably fine for the outdoors but a little baggy.
Wayne W.
Wore it several times duck hunting and I was highly satisfied. Wore it one morning in a cold, light rain. Took off my hat and pull hooded over my head, replaced hat and stayed dry and warm the rest of the morning. Nothing worse than having cold rain running down your neck!! The hoodie prevented that misery!!!
Dagen B.
Love wearing this layer!
Martin H.
Great product light and warm to wear. It is Wonderful!!! going to order more stuff soon
Josh P.
This was my first item from Voormi and I plan on treating to myself to another item from them each year! Bought this for my trip to Asia this past March (2019). It kept me comfortable for our unexpected 27 hour delay at DIA because of the bomb cyclone. It was perfect for the long flight from San Francisco to Hong Kong. Temps in Hong Kong were in the mid 70's and it was perfect for the 20k+ steps we took wandering around there as well! I wear this around the house all the time and out to any casual place. I find it to be comfortable up to the mid 70's for non-physical activities and mid 60's for hiking and other more active pursuits. Overall I love the River Run Hoodie. With a thin cotton shirt under and a medium weight vest over, it's perfect for most days on the Colorado plains! I just noticed a couple very small snags on one sleeve, so hopefully that doesn't get worse. I plan on getting one for my wife as soon as the right color and size becomes available.
Duke F.
I purchased your product and a similar Ducksworth product at the same time for a Montana fishing trip.
Must say I like the Ducksworth product better because of the 1/4 zip front. It allows more opportunity for fresh air when it gets warm but the ability to zip the front up close around the neck when its is cooler is an advantage. The zip front also allows for better control of the hood; having it a bit open when wearing a cap under the hood or zipping up tight when one wishes the hood to more "fitted".
I love your concept and have several of your products and hope this review helps you add value to future products.
Richard W.
Perfect fit/lightweight/ great looking
Link J.
The first RiverRun shirt I acquired told me this would be the standard shirt I would deliver with every new Streamtech Boat sold.....and my customers all love it! I live in this shirt all summer on the river.
Steve B.
As a fishing guide, I do whatever I can to keep the sun off. The good on the river run does the job. Its keep me cool since I’m always in the shade. And when I’m running my skiff in Florida the button keep the hood up running around the Everglades.
David B.
Great hoody! Fit and fabric are right on! I now have two hoodies, two T’s, a beanie, and a Fall Line Jacket. All excellent quality and fit!!
Ken V.
We do a lot of hiking and using my Voormi as my first layer gives me a lot of flexibility on the choices for the rest of my layers. It is very comfortable and light.
Matthew B.
Love this product! Super warm but also breathes well! One of the best items in my hunting arsenal!
Michael B.
Love it! Excellent base layer.
Don M.
I like that it's light weight. Dries quickly. I haven't used it for extreme heat and sun protection yet. I've used it for temps ranging from 70-85 F, I didn't get too hot. I did not like the way the sleeves and bottom rolled up a little. I wish the inside (white) of the garment matched the same grey as the outside. It snagged easily, no big deal.
Tyrell W.
I really like this hoodie so far. I spoke with customer service prior to placing an order because I tend to run between sizes L and M depending on fit. They recommended the M as it's a looser fit than some of their other pieces and I'm pretty happy with the fit though it could be slightly longer in the torso (but I have a longer torso than most). I've used this hoodie for multiple trail runs and I'm really liking the weight of the garment, it's perfect for active movement in the fall weather. I'll probably switch to something heavier or add another layer as the temperatures drop but it definitely has a place in my rotation. That said, I do have some durability concerns as in just over a month of use I've already started to see some small holes developing in the sleeves. I know it's a lightweight garment but I'd heard this was supposed to be more durable than a lot of similar pieces. Hopefully the holes remain small and it lasts awhile. Time will tell.
Yenisel L.
The RiverRun Hoodie surpassed my expectations. It was super comfortable, fast drying, and did not smell bad after 4 days on the trail. My trail companions all decided they will be ordering one for the next hike.
Garrett P.
Great hoodie, little bigger than I expected I typically wear X Large clothing and coulda gone with a large with this one but no biggie.
Rich C.
Awesome shirt. Perfect fit for the purpose and great material feel and durability. I use all the time on the beach, backpacking, fly fishing, and trail running.
Dan G.
Love this River run hoodie. WOW!!! What an incredible and versatile piece of clothing The light weight made it perfect for my five day hiking trip. Kept me warm on cool nights and cool in the hot sun. The light weight makes it perfect for packing when not needed.
Worked awesome wile kayaking when the evening gets cool I threw it on and the chill is gone.
The manufacturing quality is outstanding I now own 9 different pieces of Voormi apparel.
The Quality of the river run hoodie is well worth the price.
Rod L.
Perfect shirt for all the seasons you can encounter in a day!!!
Cleve J.
Best backpacking piece of clothing I have ever owned. It’s crazy versatile, doesn’t stink, and more durable than my other wool pieces. I use it as a sun shirt in the heat, and as 2nd layer in the morning and evening. At night if the temps are above 40, I use this with a wool tshirt as my thermal top (the hood really helps keep heat sleeping with a down quilt). It saves my pack significant weight by replacing 3 items.
In the above picture I hiked to No Name Lake at Broken Top in Oregon. I was hiking on snow in 80+ Temps. It was basically a microwave. When I started sweating, it rapidly evaporated the moisture and I felt a significant cooling effect. I put snow in the hood and had a cold wrap for the back of my neck with my pack on. When its really hot, I dunk it in the river and put it on. It feels like your wearing an air conditioner.
The only suggestion I have is to put a little piece of sunglass cleaning cloth on the inside, side seem. It would be really handy to have that to wipe your shades off since wool and polyester just smear every.
Five Stars. Worth the money. Made in America.
Conner v.
Wow, this thing is versatile. It's been 3 weeks and I've had a chance to wear this in ~80 degree full sun, mid 50s with high winds and rain, high 60s with overcast, and indoors on a few gym trips (moderate-vigorous intensity exercise in each case). It has the widest range of comfortable temps I've ever seen in one garment, and especially excels at keeping my very pale skin (and very hairless head) protected from the unrelenting sun. I can soak it through with sweat and once I'm done exercising, it's completely dry, with no odor, in just over an hour in stagnant room temp air.
The hood is loose, but very thoughtfully sized - It fits over a hat easily, and without a hat it hangs a ways over your face, but is surprisingly easy to adjust around to your liking. There's also a button towards the base of the neck that tightens the hood up - This is extremely useful for keeping your hat on in high winds.
The fit is relaxed, but not like an oversized sports jersey. While I would prefer it just a little slimmer fitting, the way it's cut works well enough in both an athletic and casual context. I'm 5'10", 145lb, shoulder (45), chest (37), waist (29), and the small is perfect.
Tom W.
I wore mine every day while traveling for a week and a half, and I liked it so much that I got one for my cousin as a gift.
Sean C.
My River Run hoodie was my sun shade in Spain for our late August trip. Barcelona to Malaga to Madrid. It was the answer!!!
Brian B.
I’ve got two of the river run hoodies, one black and one blue. They’re by far my favorite piece of clothing. Perfect for any weather: I’ve run 3 ultra events in them this year. One was 40 degrees and misting. One 50 degrees and a day long downpour. One in Colorado where the temps ranged from 40 at the start to 75 and sunny during the day. The river run was the perfect piece of gear for each of these races. I have nothing but great things to say about the quality of Voormi garments. They’re worth every single penny.
David K.
Great feel, great weight, great look, and multi-purpose!
Alex B.
Wow! I wasn’t expected to be this cool in a long sleeve hooded shirt. The quality is exceptional. Blows some of the staple/big name brands out of the water. Very impressed and plan to buy a couple more and the Eleven 9. I’m a fan!
James L.
I have been hiking in this shirt all summer and have been surprised how comfortable it is in hot weather. It keeps me cool and dries quickly. The hood is perfect, fits over my cap and protects my neck and ears from the sun. I will order another one when they are back in stock.
